Our airport system also includes four general aviation facilities: North Las Vegas Airport, Henderson Executive Airport, Jean Sport Aviation Center, and Overton/Perkins Landside. These airports operate under the policy direction of the Board of County Commissioners, the authority of the County Manager, and the management of the Director of Aviation. The Department of Aviation is a self-sufficient enterprise and operates without county general fund tax revenue. Twelve divisions make up the Department of Aviation’s organization, each offering a variety of front line and behind-the-scenes jobs at various levels:  Director’s Office, Airside Operations, Business & Commercial Development, Employee Services/Risk Management, Facilities/Service Desk, Finance, General Aviation, Information Systems, Landside Operations, Construction/Engineering, Security, and Terminal Operations.

    Job Description

    ABOUT THE POSITION

    The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Airport Escort Supervisor position. This position plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of Airport Escorts, trains staff in work procedures and equipment use, and interacts with and resolves problems with contractors, tenants, safety/emergency responders, and County staff regarding escort services at the Department of Aviation. Further, this position assists with airfield emergencies, safety, and security issues in both the movement area (runways/taxiways) and non-movement area (ramps and perimeters). Individuals in this position will oversee a large diverse work group who handles perimeter gate security, performs aircraft relocations in the both the movement and non-movement areas, and escorts emergency personnel to all locations on the Security Identification Display Area ( SIDA).

    THIS POSTING REFLECTS THE SALARY SCHEDULE FOR THIS POSITION EFFECTIVE 7/1/2025. PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL ACTIVE EMPLOYEES ON 7/19/2025 WILL RECEIVE A SALARY DECREASE CONSISTENT WITH AN INCREASE IN PERS CONTRIBUTION. AS SUCH, PAY IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND MAY BE REVISED.

    THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 250 APPLICATIONS RECEIVED AND WILL CLOSE WITHOUT NOTICE ONCE THAT NUMBER IS REACHED.

    This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months at either level or may be extended as needed by Employee Services.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education and Experience:

    Equivalent to an Associate's Degree and three years of full-time experience in airport ground operations/ transportation. Prior lead or supervisory experience necessary. A Bachelor's Degree preferred.

    Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Do not substitute a resume for your application or write "see attached resume" on your application.

    Working Conditions: Work scheduled off-hours, holiday and weekend shifts.

    Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of hire. Must pass a written and practical test of Airport driving skills after receiving employer provided training.

    Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

    Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

    Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.

    Citizenship: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsorships or transfers for any employment positions.

    Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID's upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID's include a Passport, Driver's License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.

    Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program: Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is contingent upon a ten year employment and five year residency history record check and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, and to drive a motor vehicle in order to train escorts, attend meetings and visit work sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; color vision to read airfield signs, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

    • Plans, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of airport escorts. Interviews and recommends selection of staff; provides for their training in work procedures; counsels staff and administers discipline as required.
    • Assists in developing and implementing goals, policies, procedures and work standards for the unit; provides input into the unit's budget.
    • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
    • Supervises all airport escort activities, ensures the proper movement of vehicles on the airport operating area and the safety of aircraft on taxiways and runways.
    • Handles and resolves customer complaints; coordinates assigned activities with those of other divisions and governmental agencies. In emergency situations, makes on-scene decisions and assists the Operations Coordinators with airport emergency efforts involving vehicle traffic on the airport runway and taxiway system.
    • Represents Airside Operations to various governmental agencies, associations, airport tenants, and commercial companies utilizing the airport.
    • Prepares and directs the preparation of a variety of correspondence, reports and other written materials.
    • Maintains accurate records and files; prepares a variety of statistical and narrative reports, informational materials, correspondence and other written materials.
    • Uses standard office equipment in the work, including a computer; drives a motor vehicle to conduct training, attend meetings and reach various work sites.
