    Are you an experienced leader ready to take on a dynamic and challenging role in correctional operations? The Snake River Correctional Institution is looking for a dedicated Assistant Superintendent to join our team and help drive meaningful change in correctional operations.

     

    About the Job – Your Role

    As an Assistant Superintendent, you will play a vital leadership role by overseeing all aspects of operations within one of the three key areas: Security, Special Housing, or General Services. You’ll be responsible for managing daily activities, supervising staff, and ensuring the effective delivery of services that align with institutional goals. Your role will involve strategic planning, operational oversight, and performance monitoring to ensure your assigned area runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all policies and procedures. You’ll collaborate closely with other departments and leadership team to maintain institutional order and security, while also analyzing data and offering recommendations to support decision-making.

     

    This position must be prepared to make sound, timely decisions to resolve issues and respond to questions regarding operations, both during routine circumstances and in emergency situations. It calls for a hands-on leader who can effectively balance administrative responsibilities with the demands of a complex correctional environment.

     

    This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

     

    Minimum Qualifications

    Seven (7) years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience;

    OR

    Four (4) years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field

    • Proven leadership and team management skills in a structured or institutional setting;
    • In-depth knowledge of correctional systems, procedures, and regulatory compliance;
    • Strong skills in strategic planning, crisis management, and operational oversight;
    • Ability to analyze security risks, implement policies, and lead institutional improvements;
    • Proven ability to develop and implement security policies and emergency response plans;
    • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills;
    • Strong decision-making abilities;
    • Experience in budgeting, resource management, and program evaluation.

     

    Benefits

    The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.
