    Duties Description

    It's never too early to start planning for summer employment! Seasonal employees are typically employed between Memorial Day and Labor Day (may vary based on location). Park and Recreation Aides can work in many different areas within a park or historic site, including:

    -Park Offices
    -Park and Trail Maintenance, Groundskeeping, and Landscaping
    -Pools and Beach areas
    -Historic Site Tours, Visitor Areas, and Gift Shops
    -Nature Centers-Sanitation and Cleaning
    -Golf Courses and Pro Shops-Patron Assistance...and more!

    Many park regions also employ a limited number of seasonal trades people, recreation specialists, and other specialized roles.

    Minimum Qualifications

    There are no Civil Service minimum qualifications. Qualifications for each seasonal position are based on operating needs and vary based on the assigned work location and job title.

    Pay:
    -Current hourly salaries for Park and Recreation Aides range from $15.97- $24.13 per hour depending on location, type of work available and the experience of the applicant.

    Benefits:
    This position has the option to join the NYS Employees’ Retirement System and may be eligible for health insurance, dental and vision coverage as well as the opportunity for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick, personal and holiday leave after time and service requirements have been met.

    State parks and historic sites are staffed by a core of permanent employees who work year-round to maintain these precious resources.
