Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our high-impact team in the
Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinic. This clinic plays a vital role in public health by offering prevention, education, diagnosis, and treatment services related to sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. Due to a high demand for services-and in alignment with state-mandated 24-hour access for all clinic visitors-this position offers a dynamic and mission-driven work environment.
As an Advanced Practice Provider in the STD Clinic, you will deliver direct patient care with a focus on identifying, diagnosing, and treating STDs. You will also serve as a clinical leader and mentor, providing oversight and support to Public Health Nurses and clinical students within the clinic setting.
Ways You'll Make an Impact:
- Conduct comprehensive sexual health assessments, including detailed patient histories and physical examinations
- Order and interpret laboratory tests to accurately diagnose sexually transmitted infections
- Administer appropriate treatment based on medical protocols, or refer patients for specialized care when necessary
- Provide clinical supervision and support to Public Health Nurses, particularly in cases requiring APP or physician consultation
- Serve as a preceptor and mentor to Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, medical students, and residents rotating through the STD Clinic
- Deliver personalized counseling and education on STD/HIV prevention, risk reduction, and unplanned pregnancy prevention
- Offer specialized services including Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), and Hepatitis C screening and treatment

The Basics (Required Education and Experience) - As required by license
- No specific experience required
- Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Midwife license approved by the NC Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners. CPR, AED and DEA Registration.
- Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) - Over one year experience as a FNP or PA
- Spanish language skills highly preferred
- Previous HIV/STD experience preferred
- Experience with PreP and PEP
