Main Purpose/Focus of the Position: The Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages Supervisor leads Missouri’s Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) team, a program administered by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). QCEW program publishes a quarterly count of employment and wages reported by employers covering more than 95 percent of U.S. jobs available at the county, Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), state and national levels by detailed industry. The team is responsible for reaching out to Missouri employers ensuring the accuracy and quality of labor force data. This position has the opportunity to lead the work of the unit and ensure high quality, complete data, along with excellent customer service, to support decision-making in Missouri.

- Lead the QCEW unit, ensuring high quality data collection and reporting that meets the required performance deliverables of the program under the guidelines and requirements put forth by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in the Cooperative Agreement with the State of Missouri.
- • Successfully supervise a team with collaborative and supportive leadership that upholds the values of the Department, with responsibilities including hiring, assisting workload, performance management, coaching, goal-setting, and day-to-day supervision.
- Verify detailed employment and wage information from Missouri employers through the phone, email, and other collection methods.
- Assign industry and geographic codes by utilizing the North American Classification System (NAICS) as outlined by the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics.
- Conduct review of data estimates and collaborate on the accuracy and publication of the resulting data.
- Effectively use a variety of programs such as Excel, Word, proprietary program software, and SQL-based queries to ensure effective program performance.
- Perform other related work as assigned

- Knowledge of economic, education, and labor market information data sets, sources and uses.
- Ability to coach and support employees to create a positive work environment that encourages innovation and collaboration and recognizes achievement.
- Ability to set strategy and adapt as program needs evolve.
- Beneficial education and/or work-related experience includes technical or professional experience in research, data analysis, economics, business, public administration, or closely related area, including military service.
