This position completes field inspections for the Charleston County Public Work’s Asset Management Program. The Public Works Field Inspector will play an integral role performing condition inspections and data collection on various stormwater and roadway assets in compliance with established policies and procedures. Experience with public maintenance practices and asset management principles are ideal.
HIRING SALARY: $45,052.80 - 58,988.80OPEN UNTIL FILLED, APPLICATION REVIEW BEGINS IMMEDIATELYDuties and Responsibilities- The individual will work in all aspects of the Asset Management Program with a primary focus on field data collection and condition inspections on all assets.
- Providing inspection and inventory collection as assigned for the Charleston County Public Works Asset Management Division.
- Completing field inspections and inspection reports on County maintained assets (could include roads, signs, stormwater structures, canals, etc.).
- Monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose, and report performance issues related to County assets.
- Perform asset data updates and maintenance.
- Assist Asset Management Team with rating inspections of County maintained assets (could include stormwater structures, drainage canals, roads, signs, and sidewalks).
- Ensure construction and traffic control measures are conformed with safety rules and regulations.
- Document and archive photographic and/or video records associated with inspections.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct performance issues related to field data collection methods used by the County.
- Perform related research as requested by immediate supervisor or project manager.
- Self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage tasks independently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of construction/inspection methods, materials and general survey techniques required.
- Must have ability to perform various field calculations and keep and record accurate records.
- Comfortability and experience in operating mobile devices and mobile applications.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral/written communication skills and computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Assist in County Emergency Operations when applicable.
- Performs additional duties as needed.
Minimum QualificationsPosition requires a High School Diploma (or GED), supplemented with two (2) or more years of Data Collection, Engineering Inspection, and/or relevant Construction experience. Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a South Carolina driver’s license upon acceptance of the position.
