    The Position

    Licensed Practical Nurses provide general or psychiatric practical nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.

    Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.

    The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services is recruiting for a Licensed Practical Nurse 1 underfilling a Licensed Practical Nurse 3 to be located in Sparks. This position actively participates on a multidisciplinary team providing nursing care and treatment to children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances in a 24/7 residential treatment setting. Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) North serve children between 6-17 years of age. The program uses nationally recognized models of care, including a Psychoeducational model, the Trauma Informed Care Model and Recovery Model. PRTF North also incorporates Aggression Replacement Training into its philosophy of care. Work responsibilities include providing professional nursing care to adolescents, medication management and administering medications as prescribed by the agency psychiatrist and monitoring for side effects, maintaining client safety, coordinating admissions to acute care facilities if youth safety is compromised, coordinating youth admission and discharges, completing referrals, participating in on going professional development trainings, providing quality assurance, and working in the milieu monitoring daily activities while providing psycho-social rehabilitative services.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada and one year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Special Requirements Phlebotomy certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Intravenous (IV) certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
