    The Job

    The Project & Facilities Management Department is recruiting for Custodians to maintain buildings and surroundings in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Custodian duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning restrooms, offices, fixtures, and work areas; cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors; dusting, polishing, and cleaning furniture, windows, blinds, and mirrors; and using appropriate cleaning chemicals, solutions, and machines to perform these duties. Positions are located in Facilities Management.

    The eligible list created from this recruitment may be used to fill other vacancies throughout the County as they occur.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment. Positions in Law Enforcement work with sworn law enforcement staff and agency. Prior to appointment, applicants will be fingerprinted and must pass a background investigation. Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony or currently be on court ordered probation (or have been within the last year).

    Physical: This job requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing ten (10) pounds and occasionally up to fifty (50) pounds, and ability to move eighty (80) pound containers.

    Work Schedule: The majority of positions require a work schedule of 4:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; a shift differential pay may apply.

    *Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Realignment Sales Tax Collections performance.

    Minimum Requirements

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of custodial experience in the cleaning of office buildings, schools, hospitals, detention facility and/or large workshops, including mixing cleaning chemicals and solutions, cleaning offices, restrooms and fixtures, cleaning and disinfecting restrooms, stripping, waxing, and using machines to buff floors.

    Custodial experience must be the primary responsibility of the job and include use of appropriate cleaning solutions and mixing cleaning chemicals.
