    Job Description

    The TEEX Preparedness Team Student Worker will use their developing career skills and knowledge to perform various functions within the exercise program, including the design, development, setup, execution, evaluation, and after-action reporting of full-scale, functional, and tabletop exercises and custom training courses. Additionally, the student worker may assist in planning, organizing, and conducting professional tours, summits, and conferences. Interns will be mentored in leadership and relevant professional skills by participating in events across TEEX mission areas. Writing skills will be used to ensure published reports and papers are professionally drafted and reflect TEEX quality. The Student worker will gain knowledge and experience in program management of public safety projects for fire, law enforcement, public works, cyber-related projects, and processes, including resource management, planning, and leadership.

    Required Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED, and current enrollment in a degree granting program at an accredited college or university.


    Equivalency: N/A

    Required Licenses/Certifications:
    • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Education, experience, and/or training in public safety, intelligence, or public policy.


    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
    • Ability to regularly use a computer/keyboard.
    • Ability to remain stationary for extensive periods in an office environment.
    • Ability to work outdoors during the summer.
    • Physical conditioning consistent with moving office documents/files, instructional materials, and setting up classrooms up to 20 lbs. with assistance.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Related technical skill or knowledge using hardware/software or other job-related equipment.
    • Ability to work hands-on while assisting with special projects.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.


    Equipment:
    • Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone and fax machine.
    • Occasional use of agency vehicles.


    Notifications:
    • This position is security sensitive.
    • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.
    • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.
    • This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
    • Ability to travel independently to other and/or remote locations by driving a personal or TEEX vehicle.


    Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

    Conduct Literature or Organizational Reviews - 70%
    • Assist with resource and time management for large-scale projects.
    • Conduct social media and web background reviews for projects.
    • Assist with enterprise development and marketing projects.


    Data Analysis - 15%
    • Prepare plans, reports, and data analytics.


    Other Projects as Assigned - 15%
    • Perform complex project tasks which require the application of advanced-level skill or knowledge.
    • Develop and assist in the execution of HSEEP Full-scale, Functional, and Table-top exercises.
    • Assist with technical review and writing of After-action reviews prior to delivery to clients.
