    Just 18 miles from the Pacific Ocean, Escondido lies 30 miles northeast of San Diego and 100 miles south of Los Angeles. As a key member of the City’s public safety team, the Emergency Preparedness Manager oversees emergency preparedness responsibilities within the Escondido Fire Department and provides leadership in planning for hazards such as wildfires, earthquakes, power outages, and public health emergencies 

    The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of emergency management and be a clear and direct communicator who is comfortable speaking in public and excels in a community-facing role. Success in this role requires a self-starter who demonstrates a high level of initiative and a collaborator who can encourage and maximize community participation.

  • Job Requirements

    A Bachelor’s degree and four years of full-time equivalent experience in the research, analysis, planning, and development of an emergency plan or training program for large-scale disasters or civil defense operations. Experience in EOC activation at Level 2 or 1 is highly desirable.
