Engineering Technician

Full-time position available with the Water Department, Engineering-CAD Division located at 4800 E. 63rd St.
Salary Range: $22.61-$34.48/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. *Telework available one day per pay period after completion of probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes computer aided drafting and design (CADD) system to produce engineering plans, maps, exhibits and reports.
• Performs basic to advanced engineering/architectural applications in the production of project plans under the guidance of Design Engineer.
• Prepares drawings, details, and maps for a variety of projects: Water lines, Sewer lines, Water treatment plants, Wastewater treatment plants, and Pump Stations.
• Prepares plan and profile drawings.
• Works closely with other CAD Technicians and Project Engineers on the team.
• Reviews record drawings and incorporates them into plans.
• Incorporates City standards and specifications into plans.
• Works with Autodesk Revit software to update and maintain 3D models of City Facilities.
• Maintains accurate records of drawings.
• The ideal candidate would be skillful in AutoCAD or Revit and have at least some knowledge in ArcGIS or Civil 3D.
• Performs other work as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRES high school graduation. Must possess a valid state-issued drivers license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference given for CAD experience.

Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
