    Working Title: Project, Thesis, and Dissertation Review Specialist

    Classification Title: Administrative Analyst/Specialist Exempt I (Non-Exempt equivalent for part-time/hourly)

    Classification Salary Range: $4,598 - $8,318 per month (Full-time equivalent)

    The anticipated hiring range for this position is $4,950 - $5,000 ($2,475 - $2,500 part-time) per month. The maximum salary is $2,500.

    The final salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

    About the Department/Position:

    Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of the University Library and in collaboration with the Digital Initiatives Librarian, the Project, Thesis, and Dissertation Review Specialist performs duties related to the preparation and submission of projects, theses, and dissertations for all CSUDH graduate programs. Responsibilities include: conducting all aspects of the review and supporting the publication of master's projects and theses, and doctoral dissertations; reviewing grammar and conformance to formatting standards; and remediating digital files to meet accessibility standards. In close collaboration with the Office of Graduate Studies and Research, this individual will create submission reports and track the review status of each project, thesis, and dissertation to ensure that all required checkpoints are met. Additionally, this individual will develop and deliver workshops for students preparing to start the project, thesis, or dissertation writing process; revise and update the project, thesis, and dissertation guides as needed; and ensure that projects, theses, and dissertations have met the requirements for deposit in the ScholarWorks repository.

    Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Create review folios for each student submitting a project/thesis/dissertation in Canvas, the learning management system
    • Review each thesis/dissertation for formatting to ensure that it conforms with project/thesis/dissertation guidelines
    • Support the successful completion of the project/thesis/dissertation submission process
    • Remediate digital project/thesis/dissertation files to meet accessibility standards
    • Develop and maintain project/thesis/dissertation website materials for writing and formatting

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and minimum of three (3) years of analytical experience involving studies, analysis, and/or evaluation.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    • Working knowledge, or ability to quickly obtain working knowledge, of CSU Chancellor's Office policies pertaining to accessible technology
    • Ability to learn and perform digital file remediation for both Microsoft Word and PDF formats
    • Ability to interpret rules and regulations related to thesis and dissertation preparation and submission at CSUDH
    • Knowledge of the process to collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data
    • Ability to exercise good judgment and independently balance multiple work unit priorities and projects

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Graduate degree or postbaccalaureate credential.
    • Two or more years of experience working at an accredited college or university.
    • Knowledge of FERPA and experience in handling confidential and sensitive information with tact and discretion.
    • Prior experience in copyediting, digital publishing, or accessibility compliance.
    • Working knowledge of institutional repositories and learning management systems, such as Canvas.
