Full-time position available with the Water Department, Water Supply Treatment Division located at 1 NW Briarcliff
Salary Range: $26.10-$39.82/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Thursday, 6:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
- Performs, repairs, and does preventative maintenance on power generation assemblies, industrial pumps, motors, and numerous other complex and specialized equipment related to the Water Supply Treatment Plant and its infrastructures.
- Conducts generator pre-start and start-ups in accordance with the manufacturer checklists, to include diagnosis and troubleshooting of problems.
- Utilizes general knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools, and instruments.
- Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, schematics, and other related publications.
- Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned trucks and other equipment.
- Keeps assigned trucks and equipment clean.
- Performs all duties in compliance with required DOT inspections to ensure service trucks and equipment are in proper and safe working order.
- Operates and maintain snow removal equipment.
- Must be available day or night during snow season for emergency snow removal events; job duties are performed in all types of weather, day or night.
- May be be asked to participate/perform other lower classified jobs to perform other duties related to the maintenance, replacement and repair of Water Supply Treatment Plant and its infrastructures.
Qualifications
REQUIRES 3 years of experience as an automotive technician, including 1 year in the repair and maintenance of heavy duty automotive and construction equipment; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience, which may include the successful completion of an automotive repair trade school or the successful completion of a vocational technical program in automotive maintenance or completion of the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification as a master automotive/truck technician. Must possess a valid State-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Must possess a valid Missouri Class A, B or C CDL prior to the end of the employee's probationary period as determined by the department. Must possess a valid State of Missouri Inspector Mechanic Permit prior to the end of the employee's probationary period. Must pass a preemployment drug screen and post offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
