    OC PARKS SENIOR MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR

    (Senior Maintenance Inspector)

    SALARY INFORMATION
    Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.

    OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

    This recruitment is being held to establish an open eligible list to fill current and future Senior Maintenance Inspector vacancies within the OC Community Resources/OC Parks. This eligible list may be utilized to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.

    OC PARKS OC Parks encompasses regional, wilderness and historical facilities, as well as the OC Parks Zoo and coastal areas throughout the County of Orange in California.     THE OPPORTUNITY

    The Senior Maintenance Coordinator will lead, develop and implement departmentwide and park specific programs and projects, including Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) administration, inspections, contracts, and budgets.

    This position will support and consult park staff on maintenance management best practices, CMMS, inspections, operations, landscape maintenance, programs and projects.
    There are currently two vacant positions for Senior Maintenance Coordinator (Senior Maintenance Inspector). One of these positions will include the additional responsibility of implementing the OC Parks Playground Inspection Program, alongside the regular duties of the role. The individual selected for this specific assignment will be required to obtain and maintain a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification within one year of appointment.

    Senior Maintenance Coordinators are expected to drive to various OC Parks sites to conduct inspections and provide onsite technical and project support, along with other duties as assigned.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES
    In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will have significant experience in maintenance management best practices, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), operations, inspections, landscape maintenance, contract development and administration, budgets, programs and projects.
    A degree or certification in maintenance, facilities, operations, construction, public works construction, project management, supervision, or a related field is desirable but not required.

    The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the following key competencies:

    Technical Expertise
    • Experience implementing maintenance management best practices and administering a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
    • Experience maintaining parks, public works and/or related facilities to established service levels.
    • Experience implementing CMMS reports, data analysis, annual work plans, maintenance management workflows and performance measures.
    • Ability to develop and implement inspections and preventative maintenance programs.
    • Experience planning the methods, materials, equipment, personnel, and budget used for inspecting, maintaining, or repairing parks and/or facilities.
    • Ability to evaluate and implement continuous improvement and change initiatives.
    • Ability to develop and manage contracts and agreements and write scopes of work.
    • Ability to produce manuals, guides, best practices and procedures.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, as-builts, schematics, and engineering plans.
    • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations, environmental regulatory permit requirements, and governmental regulations.
    • Ability to train, consult and support staff on maintenance management best practices, CMMS, operations, landscape maintenance, inspections, contracts, programs and projects.
    • Ability to develop and administer trainings.

    • Ability to guide and facilitate collaboration between multiple work groups, parks, and stakeholders.
    • Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining cooperative working relationships and effective public relations.
    • Skilled in understanding project stakeholder needs while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.


    Analysis | Problem Solving
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of effective decision making.
    • Ability to understand, interpret and enforce compliance with contracts, plans, specifications, and schedules.
    • Experience analyzing in-house maintenance versus contract maintenance, making recommendations based on cost effectiveness, resource availability, etc.
    • Experience performing cost analysis and estimates and budget forecasting.


    Planning | Organization
    • Ability to develop, plan, and implement programs, projects and inspections requiring technical expertise.
    • Ability to review and evaluate work requests submitted by parks for accuracy, budget, and resource requirements.
    • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.


    Oral Communication | Writing Skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting information.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, stakeholders, and other County and government staff.
    • Ability to communicate and teach maintenance management principles and best practices.
    • Ability to prepare and present reports and data, provide options and make recommendations to a variety of audiences.
    • Skilled at building consensus and negotiating with public and private stakeholders.

    License/Certification
    Possession of a valid California Driver License, Class C, before date of appointment is required for most assignments.
    Certification may be required for some assignments.

    RECRUITMENT PROCESS
    Human Resource Services (HRS) screens all application materials for minimum and/or desirable qualifications. After screening, candidates who meet the minimum and/or desirable qualifications will be referred to the next step in the recruitment process.     Structured Oral Interview | SOI (Weighted 100%)
    Applicants will be interviewed and rated by an oral interview panel of job knowledge experts. Each applicant's rating will be based on responses to a series of structured questions designed to elicit the applicant's qualifications for the job. Only the most successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list.
    Based on the Department's needs, the selection procedures listed above may be modified. Candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedures.

    Eligible List
    Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for current and future vacancies.
