Pay Range: $71,661 - $93,159 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm; Some evening/weekend work required. This is an in-person position based at Fort Worth City Hall (100 Fort Worth Trail) with ability to work from home up to one day per week following completion of the probationary period.

A Web Designer position is available with the City of Fort Worth Communications & Public Engagement Department. We are seeking a Web Designer with Content Management System experience to join our team. The Web Designer will be responsible for developing and maintaining our municipal website and creative content, using the current Granicus/OpenCities platform as well as any future potential host platform. It is preferred that the selected individual has experience in coding and creating and maintaining a range of webpages, customizable templates, and integrations with other software to assist government organizations in creating and maintaining a professional and user-friendly online presence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Administration or a related field.
- Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications, or a closely related field.
- Valid Texas driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in web design and web site management as a primary job function.
- Experience in a municipal or government setting.
- Experience in a content management system.
- Experience in Granicus/OpenCities platforms. Including experience with open-source website management tools and the knowledge of basic underlying codebase which allows for more flexibility and control over the website's functionality.
- NET programming (C#, ASP.NET), Bootstrap.
- Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud.
- Rest API with Basic Authentication, HMAC Authentication, RSS/Atom feeds.
- Experience with and general understanding of various programming languages: UX/UI, HTML5, CSS, SCSS, JSON, JQuery and JavaScript.
The Web Designer job responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the front-end development, creative design and layout of public and intranet websites within the City of Fort Worth's web Content Management System (OpenCities).
- Maintains and develops websites with visual design that prioritize quality user experience. Ensures web properties conform to accessibility requirements set by the federal government and World Wide Web Consortium; works closely with Information Technology Department staff, internal web developers and outside contractors to identify web content and functionality needs.
- Develops and implements UI/UX designs and ongoing maintenance within branding guidelines and ADA compliancy.
- Works with internal teams and external partners to support the development of engaging and effective web content that supports digital news, program initiatives, and campaigns that align with the City of Fort Worth's brand and messaging.
- Tracks web use analytics to create reports for administration and inform content direction.
- Evaluates and updates existing webpages for alignment with brand guidelines, correctness, relevance, SEO and visual appeal.
- Trains and supports content developers in departments citywide.

Medical Program
The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.
The Health Center Plan – Offers employees and their family’s

Employees can visit any one of the three City of Fort Worth Employee Health Centers and receive guaranteed same or next day appointments for sick visits. Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city.
The Consumer Choice Plan – Is offered to employees at no cost or low monthly premiums to cover eligible dependents and provides the financial benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA).

Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually

Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.
Wellness Program
The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
