    The Position

    Social Services Managers plan, organize, direct and manage the activities, staff and functions necessary to provide social services in an assigned region or district office and its satellites.

    Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

    The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for full-time Social Services Manager 4 (underfill Social Services Manager 5) to be located in Carson City. Under the general direction of the Deputy Administrator for Administrative Services, the Social Services Manager is responsible for the administration, planning, development, public representation, organization, supervision, and management of the Confidential Address Program and Grants Management Unit, including the Statewide Victim Services Unit and grants overseeing prevention services and other activities. Responsibilities include establishing project priorities, developing staffing needs and budget projections, maintaining community provider relationships, designing an implementation plan, supervising grant program activities, development and implementation of major projects, maintaining required programmatic reports, establishing policies and procedures, monitoring program budgets, authorizing expenditures, evaluating program outcomes and redesigning programs to meet the needs of victims statewide, participating in the legislative process, including monitoring state legislation, and overseeing state plan administration and rulemaking, including amending and drafting regulations as needed.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, health or social science, public administration or related field and four years of supervisory experience in the implementation of social services programs; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex federal regulations; and writing program policies, procedures, and reports; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Some positions require professional licensure or certification in a social or medical specialty issued by the appropriate licensing board in the State of Nevada, which will be identified at the time of recruitment. Incumbents must maintain professional licensure or certification in their specialty for continuing employment.
