IntroductionWestWorld is looking for an experienced professional who is well-versed in the management practices of public assembly facility management to include equestrian and non-equestrian event experience. We are looking for a team player who is adept at solving problems in a fast-paced environment and doing so within budgetary guidelines. Please attach a cover letter and resume to your application. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience - A Bachelor's degree in Animal Husbandry, Equine Science, Business Administration or a closely related field from an accredited educational institution.
- Seven years of highly responsible management experience in directing the operation and maintenance of a convention center, municipal community services department, or similar public assembly facility, to include organizing and directing the activities within a department, preparing and managing governmental budgets and/or contract management and administration, and strategic planning.
- Must have a minimum of one year of Lead or Supervisory experience.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
- Preferred: Two years of Lead or Supervisory experience.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements - Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
- Within two years of hire or promotion, ability to obtain and maintain the League of Agriculture Certified Manager of Equine Center (CMEC) certification.
- Within two years of hire or promotion, must complete the League of Agriculture’s League Footing Academy
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on assignment .
Essential Functions- Supervises employees and coordinates personnel-related activities to include, but not limited to: training, approving work schedules, leave request, recommending/approving personnel actions, coaching and counseling, setting annual performance goals and competencies, and completing written performance evaluations.
- Acts in the General Manager’s absence.
- Interprets policy and provides direction to staff on City policies and procedures.
- Develops and issues written guidelines and action plans to coordinate projects with outside contractors and other city maintenance staff.
- Acts as a liaison to producers and event staff, exhibitors, customers, and the public in matters related to the facility.
- Oversees the response to emergencies. Responds and directs the response of various staff and agencies in emergency situations.
- Supervises operational activities of users of facility, property, and facilities to ensure compliance with leases, agreements, and contracts.

- Work is performed in a City office environment on the grounds of WestWorld, with a significant amount of time on site interacting with staff, event producers, and the general public.
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to work in an equestrian center and special events facility
- Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, calculator, copy and fax machines requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
- Use various hand tools.
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds, up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Travel to/from meetings and various locations.
- May require working weekends and attending evening and weekend meetings as necessary.
- This position is 'on-call' twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.
- Respond and direct response of various staff and agencies in emergency situations.
