    Education and Experience : Associate’s Degree or higher in Education, Social/Behavioral Sciences, or a related field and two (2) years of work experience in a teaching or training environment involving public contact; or a High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years of work experience in a teaching or training environment involving public contact.

    Licenses and Certificates : Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the time of appointment.

    General Purpose

    Under general supervision, coordinate, develop, schedule and report the need for training programs and provide varied educational support for the El Paso Department of Public Health.

    Typical Duties

    Support training programs. Involves: Meet with staff to coordinate training schedules. Schedule and coordinate annual, recurring and mandatory training programs. Announce training to personnel and delegate assignments as needed. Enroll instructors and students, schedule training venue, prepare training materials, presentations and set up training equipment. Assist in the development of an annual training program that documents the courses to be taught, a brief description of the course content, length and proposed attendees, and the approximate course dates. Verify enrollment, collect training documents and ensure all needed documentation is turned in. Identify courses that will be taught by outside instructors and make appropriate arrangements. Develop training outlines and other instructional materials. Evaluate the usefulness of available audiovisual support materials.

    Assist in the management of course and content development. Involves: Provide a welcoming environment for training participants. Assist in the development of lesson plans. Assess training program effectiveness. Involves: Implement programs to ensure training needs are evaluated, and needed courses are prepared and conducted. Maintain files of all relevant training courses that are available from outside sources, with special emphasis on training available from local sources, such as colleges and vocational institutions. Arrange for sign-ups for all courses. Maintain lists of attendees, and notify attendees and their supervisors of any changes in dates and locations; ensure courses are taught as scheduled, and staff participation is appropriate. Set up and/or assist in the set-up of training sessions. Assist in modifying training program content as necessary. Maintain inventory of training materials and audio-visual support items. Ensure training records meet department and regulatory compliance.

    Perform related incidental duties contributing to the realization of objectives. Involves: Substitute for supervisor or coworkers and within authorized limits by carrying out specified functions to maintain continuity of operations. Provide support for miscellaneous projects or activities overseen by higher-level personnel as instructed. Explain and demonstrate work performed to assist the supervisor in orienting and training employees. Engage in assignments pertaining to functions of other positions for training purposes under close supervision. Log activities, and prepare and submit recurring reports. Deliver and pick up documents.
