Summary of position
This is an exciting new position within the Finance Department and supports the Procurement Officer and City departments with procurement of materials, equipment, supplies, services, and construction in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations. Performs professional level work in the planning, organization, development, and coordination of City-wide purchasing activities including formal and informal purchasing, contract negotiations, scope of work development, and creating final contract and solicitation documents.
Minimum qualifications
Experience
- Two years of professional level purchasing and contracts administration experience, preferably in a government setting. Professional experience with formal writing.
Training
- An associate’s degree in business administration, legal studies, supply chain management, or closely related field. Any equivalent combination of training, certification, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may qualify.
Desired qualifications
- Professional certification such as a Certified Public Purchasing Buyer (CPPB), Certified Procurement Professional (CPP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) are highly desirable.
