    These positions are located in the Ventura County Clerk-Recorder, Registrar of Voters Agency within the Elections Division located in Ventura: may also be assigned to work in other offsite locations within Ventura County including the County Clerk-Recorder East County Office located in Thousand Oaks, California. These positions may require traveling throughout Ventura County. Under general supervision, the Elections Warehouse Assistant I/II performs the manual and clerical work required for the operation of a warehouse including receiving, transporting, stocking, issuing, shipping, inventorying, assembling, packaging, and record keeping. Performs complex and varied inventory management duties in support of multiple functional areas of a central warehouse unit. Ideal candidates must be willing and able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment; be flexible and available for overtime, evening and weekend work; perform routine and repetitive tasks while standing for long periods of time; lift 40 to 75 pounds repeatedly throughout the day; be adaptable and maintain attention to detail, time sensitive setting in close working conditions; and, communicate and interact effectively with supervisors, peers and others departments.

    Extra help employees perform temporary work and are paid on an hourly basis. Employees typically work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM but must be available to work overtime (early mornings and evenings), and some holidays and weekends as needed.

    Extra help employees are not regular County employees and are not eligible for County benefits. Additionally, Extra Help employees are limited to working a maximum of 720 hours per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30).

    The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current Extra Help positions. There are currently four (4 ) anticipated Extra Help vacancies in the County Clerk-Recorder, Elections Division, depending on the operational needs.

    PAYROLL TITLES AND HOURLY RATES
    Inventory Management Assistant I: $23.00 per hour
    Inventory Management Assistant II: $25.00 per hour

    Inventory Management Assistant I/II are eligible for overtime compensation.

    Examples Of Duties

    Depth and breadth of assignments increase at each level, but may include the following:
    • Assists the warehouse supervisor with verifying quantities of voting equipment to be issued out to vote centers.
    • Identifies equipment damaged or in need of repair during functionality and Pre-Logic Accuracy Testing (PRE-LAT) - equipment diagnostics.
    • Receives items to be used by agency by reviewing shipping documents to ensure the quantity and quality of items received meet the specification of items ordered.
    • May repair or perform minor maintenance on warehouse equipment by replacing broken or missing parts.
    • Performs loading on transportation vehicles, or packaging and delivering or shipping to fill the orders received.
    • Inputs and retrieves data used for inventory control by using basic keyboard and computer knowledge in the operation of a computerized inventory control system.
    • Tracks and verifies compliance with all equipment issued out.
    • Labels and stores items such as office supplies, excess property, communication parts, maintenance materials or equipment by following methods appropriate for each type of item to prevent damage/spoilage and to provide easy accessibility to items.
    • Cleans equipment and maintains a clean working area/warehouse.
    • Serves as a resource person for the unit by answering questions or resolving problems.
    • May act as a lead for "Vote by Mail" Ballot Storage Management, which entails ensuring all procedures are followed, attention to detail, initiative, and good communication.
    • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


    Typical Qualifications

    These are entrance requirements to the examination process and assure neither continuance in the process nor placement on an eligible list.

    EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
    Some experience in inventory control, storekeeping, warehousing or hospital central supply which has led to the acquisition of the required knowledge and abilities. The required knowledge and abilities also can be obtained by:

    Inventory Management Assistant I
    Any combination of education, training or experience equivalent to one (1) year of clerical experience; OR six (6) months experience as a Clerical Trainee for the County of Ventura.

    Inventory Management Assistant II
    Any combination of education, training or experience equivalent to one (1) year of clerical experience plus one (1) year of experience in inventory control, storekeeping, warehousing or hospital central supply; OR six (6) months of experience as an Inventory Management Assistant I for the County of Ventura.

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
    • Must be available to work overtime, evenings, and weekends with little to short notice.
    • Must be able to lift/carry/move items weighing up to 75 pounds.
    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time on a concrete floor and perform repetitive work.

    Working Conditions:
    Depending on assignments, incumbents may work in a warehouse or in an environment with some disagreeable elements such as noise, dust, fumes, machinery or contagious diseases requiring exercise of safety precautions.
