    Anticipated Hiring Salary

    $6,061.00 - Per Month ($72,732.00 Annually)

    Salary is commensurate with experience.

    Position Summary

    Under the general direction of the Assistant Director for Transfer Credit, the ADT & Transfer Credit Coordinator facilitates the tracking and verification of Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) from California Community Colleges. This includes creating reports, coding applicants, and coordinating communication throughout the admission process in collaboration with Undergraduate Admissions, Academic Advising, the Office of the Registrar, Academic Departments, and the Office of Articulation. In accomplishing these tasks, the incumbent uses knowledge of the structure and coding of the Campus Solutions (CS) student system to manage ADT processing. The incumbent provides in-depth guidance for transfer students by providing counseling and explanation of transfer credit policies. This includes using professional judgment and information analysis to determine course transferability, interpret complex transfer articulations and degree requirements, and calculate credit totals and grade point averages. The incumbent builds on knowledge of California Title V, CSU eligibility requirements, and SFSU policies to support the staff by offering specialized training on admissions and transfer credit policies and procedures, and handling challenging and unique student, parent, staff, and faculty interactions. In collaboration with the leadership team of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Recruitment, the incumbent consults on optimizing existing procedures to ensure a smooth experience for transfer students.

    Position Information

    ADT Coordination

    •Identify, track, monitor, and communicate with applicants regarding ADT and college readiness requirements during the admissions and enrollment process using data available in CS and optimizing the existing capabilities of CS for automation.

    •Maintains contact and fosters relationships with prospective transfer students regarding the ADT pathway.

    •Review applicant data to verify accuracy and soundness of student self-reported and planned information.

    •Responsible for ensuring accurate reporting of ADT data.

    •Communicate with the campus community regarding ADT participation and updates.

    •Serve as the campus ADT liaison with the CSU Chancellor’s Office.

    •Ensure Cal State Apply and CSU Transfer Planner are properly coded and up-to-date on ADT pathways.

    Transfer Credit Advising & Support

    • Assist students from community colleges and universities by providing guidance and explanation of transfer

    credit and academic policies.

    • Communicate clearly and effectively with students, explaining recommendations and any necessary actions to

    help them move forward confidently.

    • Assist applicants and new students with understanding their transfer credit reports.

    • Assist new students during summer freshman and transfer orientations.

    • Ensure that transfer credit is assessed and correctly applied in coordination with the transfer credit analysts.

    • Research, analyze, consult, and advise applicants, students, staff and faculty on complex admissions and

    transfer credit problems, including in situations where few precedents or guidelines exist.

    Transfer Credit Training

    •Collaborate in the development and maintenance of training and procedural material to support the goals of assisting applicants who transfer to SF State with an ADT.

    •Assist in hiring, training and evaluation of new staff.

    •Support campus efforts to address statewide initiatives and projects including California Course Identification (C-ID), Articulation System Stimulating Inter-institutional Student Transfer (ASSIST), California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC), CSU Transfer Planner, the Associate Degree for Transfer, etc.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Knowledge and Abilities: The following knowledge and abilities as well as those listed at the lower levels in the Student Services Professional series are required for appointment into this classification.

    Thorough knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior. General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the Student Services field as well as general knowledge of the policies, procedures and practices of the program area to which assigned; general knowledge of individual counseling techniques; general knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge, of the organizational procedures and activities of the specific campus to which the position is assigned. Working knowledge of student services programs outside the program to which immediately assigned.

    Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action; advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters; determine appropriate courses of action and proper techniques to utilize while engaged with individuals in personal interactions of an argumentative or sensitive nature; interpret and evaluate descriptions and explanations of problems brought forward by individuals or student organizations, analyze and define the problem, draw valid conclusions and project consequences of various alternative courses of action; carry out a variety of professionally complex assignments without detailed instructions; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals.

    Experience: Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. One year in the program area to which assigned may be preferred but is not required. A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling. • Assist applicants and new students with understanding their transfer credit reports.

    • Assist new students during summer freshman and transfer orientations.

    • Ensure that transfer credit is assessed and correctly applied in coordination with the transfer credit analysts.

    • Research, analyze, consult, and advise applicants, students, staff and faculty on complex admissions and

    transfer credit problems, including in situations where few precedents or guidelines exist.

    Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field; 3 years of professional student services related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.

    Preferred Qualifications

    •Ability to interpret academic publications, Title 5, SF State and California State University (CSU) policies, and bulletin information.

    •Ability to develop queries and to set up tracking of ADT awards in CS, performing necessary analysis and working to develop improvements in tracking as needed.

    •Ability to use of a variety of technological systems used in the management and evaluation of applications for admission and student data in PeopleSoft, Campus Solutions, as well as data analysis, manipulation, and reporting using Microsoft Excel.

    •Particular knowledge of California and the CSU higher education environment.

    •Experience with student advising or transcript evaluation

    •Experience with undergraduate admissions and transfer credit policies and processes.

    •Experience providing excellent customer service in higher education.

    •Two (2) years of administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs

    •Ability to integrate the use of a variety of technological systems used in workload planning and in transmission and retrieval of student information from databases, word processing software, spreadsheets, and messaging applications.

    •Ability to recognize the value of alternate problem-solving techniques and to develop effective solutions using incomplete or ambiguous information
