  • Job Description

    About the Role

    Reporting to the County Executive, the Deputy County Executive plans, organizes and directs the activities of several key departments as well as Countywide initiatives, including:

    • Directing the development and implementation of programs and pursuit of new initiatives.
    • Evaluating policies and coordinating activities with assigned departments to ensure maximum effectiveness of County resources and services.
    • Keeping the County Executive informed regarding the overall condition of the County’s programs and of any developing areas or events which could impact the County.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Deputy County Executive plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the County and driving transformational change across County systems, building stronger communities, and ensuring equitable access to vital services. The individual selected for this role will:

    Lead with purpose: Direct the development and implementation of programs and initiatives that make a real difference in people’s lives.
    Drive results: Oversee multiple departments, ensuring resources are used effectively and projects deliver meaningful outcomes.
    Shape the future: Anticipate emerging challenges, provide innovative solutions, and keep leadership informed of trends that impact our community.
    Foster collaboration: Build strong partnerships across government, community, and business sectors to deliver on the County’s vision.
    Champion workforce success: Mentor, inspire, and empower County leadership teams, promote a culture of inclusion, innovation, and accountability.

  • Job Requirements

    The ideal candidate for this role brings a combination of background and strength such as:

    • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in fiscal, administrative, or managerial roles in a large public agency including at least one (1) year in a senior-level administrative or management position.
    • Demonstrated ability to anticipate emerging challenges and opportunities, and develop forward-looking strategies that align with community needs.
    • Deep understanding of government finance, budgeting, and resource allocation.
    • Skill in forging partnerships, and navigating complex political and organizational dynamics.
