The Position Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (NNAMHS) is looking for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) who can deliver mental health care to adult psychiatric clients in the Outpatient Medication Clinic in Sparks. The APRN or PA will be responsible for performing psychiatric intake evaluations, diagnosing and treating a variety of mental illnesses, conducting follow-up medication management appointments, ordering and analyzing tests, providing referrals for additional healthcare in the community, and updating and maintaining accurate and current health records. The successful candidate will work as a team member with other APRNs, Psychiatrists, Registered Nurses, service coordinators, therapists, financial benefit coordinators, and other mental health support staff. Outpatient services are available Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Licensure by the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners or certification by the Nevada State Board of Osteopathic Medicine as a Physician Assistant; OR certification of recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult Nurse Practitioner issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing. Special Requirements Current certification of registration or license to prescribe from the Nevada Board of Pharmacy is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Licensure to prescribe controlled substances from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Certification or licensure to dispense controlled substances, poisons, dangerous drugs and devices from the Nevada State Board of Nursing and Nevada Board of Pharmacy is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and/or Basic Life Support is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety.
