    Job Description

    Full-time position available with the Human Resources Department, Retirement Division located at 414 E. 12th St.
    Salary Range: $20.48-$30.71/hour
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as one of the main points of contact for the Retirement Division, helping manage the front desk.
    • Assists walk in customers and answering the main phone line.
    • Supports the accurate upkeep of retiree details (including insurance choices, contact data, tax withholdings, pension check deductions, etc.) within the pension systems' custodial bank and benefits enrollment platforms.
    • Records and processes checks for new retiree insurance premiums and manage insurance premium direct payments for retirees.
    • Tracks and manages returned mail and handle pension payment inactivation/reactivations.
    • Assists the Deferred Compensation plan administrator by processing deferred compensation and Post-employment Health Plan (PEHP) forms, facilitating PEHP calculations and annual PEHP group voting, managing filing activities, and providing general plan information.
    • Communicates with non-vested terminated employees, offering guidance on refund or rollover possibilities for their pension contributions.
    • Manages refund/rollover requests and lump sum payments within the custodial bank system.
    • Updates beneficiary information in PeopleSoft for active employees and ensures accurate completion of new employee beneficiary forms.
    • Generates pension award letters and provide pension estimates upon request.
    • Aids in the execution of bi-annual retiree benefits open enrollment periods, assisting retirees with election submissions through Benefitfocus and providing comprehensive insurance plan and rate details.
    • Maintains organized retiree files and facilitate the scanning of refunds and other retirement-related documents for secure long-term retention.



    Qualifications

    REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience to include professional experience in the development and/or operation of administrative systems, programs, policies and practice. Preference given to candidates who are veterans.

    Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
